On The Wall Participants – Feb 2009
February 20th, 2009ON THE WALL (OTW) is a quarterly communal gathering with a special focus on photography. As part of community outreach programmes, OTW provides budding photographers and emerging artists an interesting yet affordable platform to showcase and to promote their fine art prints, while hobbyists and enthusiasts alike can get-together to network and exchange ideas, or simply trade and sell their works, camera gears, bargain books as well as other photographic-related items in this “photo bazaar”.

Going back to the fundamental of image making, and coupled with the love for animals, Serena has created a series of photogram on wild creatures. Underlying the charming prints, it set one reflecting on uneasy relationship between man and wild life.

Ervine left the world of architecture to pursue his dream as a photographer. His love for spaces and places has led him to different countries. His ongoing personal works includes photographing bicycles in third world countries to constructing his own cameras.

Jean Qingwen Loo

Jean Qingwen Loo is a documentary photojournalist with a keen interest in social issues in Asia. At the recent Asian Mosaics travel photography competition, her work “Burmese Boys” came in second out of 1,323 submissions. Last year, Jean took part in Shooting Home programme and exhibited at three group shows. Jean currently freelances as a news photographer for Bloomberg News. She has worked at The Straits Times and contributes regularly to magazines like Asian Geographic. This year, she will launch LOGUE, a company focusing on using travel and documentary stories to evoke social change. Look her up at http://www.logue.sg.

A team of photographers will bring together their works for showcase. On exhibit are spectrum of images captured in their daily lives and travels to exotic destinations. Look out for panoramic images of Singapore captured with pinhole cameras.

“Photography = Question + Answer” Through photography, Alison puts herself amongst a pool of questions like, “what is the lifecycle?” These spark the birth of her creations to find the answers. Geraldine approach photography by questioning people to draw emotive answers. Her works constantly seeking answer to life, youth and personal issues.

Eric believes photography need to have meanings and not just pretty picture. He refused to be classified as artist but more of a caveman with a camera. And the furiously snapping away in vain hope of documenting everything he sees (or sees in a new light) for the first time outside his cave. 8 lives is a personal project on stray cats in Asia.
