"Standing by that street in Harajuku that evening, watching the crowds went by, gave me an awesome feeling; its almost like going into sea and letting the waves break over you. When my eyes met with the never-ending stream of pedestrians, each successive wave brings a whole new cast of characters. There's something exciting about being in the crowd, soaking up all that chance and change – the crossing of paths, the confluence of fates and the possibilities of relationships bonding and breaking in a fractions of a second. It all started with that same serendipidity of the moment, of running into a another stranger on another street in Tokyo. He too was also in love with photography as much as I was. We didn't have much chance to interact, only that he'd told me that he was going to be at Harajuku the subsequent evening. With hopes of another possible meeting, I stood rooted to a spot on a street for 2 hours, trying to filter through the neverending stream of pedestrians. No, we didn't get to meet. Instead, I found traces of other people memories that were frozen and that continues to reverberate my mine." |
